2018 Summer Camp at Har Shalom

Summer Camp for preschool - 3rd grades: All Welcome

Friendship. Community. Learning. Fun!

Our Jewish Experiential Educational Program (JEEP) summer camp programs include arts, crafts, Jewish themes and values, plus yoga, Hebrew, and allergy friendly cooking and snacks for all students.

This year we've expanded to five days a week and will celebrate Shabbat with campers every Friday (parents welcome!)

Afternoon sessions include include project-based learning, values-based themes, and extra outdoor fun.

Aftercare is available daily.

  • Morning Session: 8:30 am - 11:30 am
  • Full-Day Session 8:30 am - 2:30 pm
  • Aftercare available 2:30 pm - 5:30 pm (charged separately)
  • Five, two-week unique sessions. Programs designed for children entering preschool & kindergarten / first, second & third grades


Your child is welcome to register for one session or all…

Each session shares unique discovery and summer fun opportunities for your child. All children are welcome. Membership to Har Shalom is not required to attend. Spots will be reserved based on availability.

Session I: June 4-15

Israel Adventure Tour
Every day is a new stop in Israel in this session. Children will receive their own passport, El Al and Israeli bus (Egged) tickets as they travel from city to city and visit shuks, the Wailing Wall, the Dead Sea, and more!

Session II: June 18-29 

10 Days, 10 Jewish Holidays!
Children will zoom through the Jewish holidays in this camp, where we we learn about and celebrate a different Jewish holiday each day, including Rosh Hashanah, Sukkot, Chanukah, Tu B'Shevat, Purim,and more! We'll focus on the joys of being Jewish and learn the foods, blessings, and customs kids need to know all year.

Session III: July 2-13
(No camp on July 4th) 

Jewish Culture Around the World
Do Aborigonal Jews play didgeridoo? Is 
Chanukah in the summer in South Africa? 
Children will dicover these answers in more as 
they explore Jewish cultures worldwide. Learning how Jews live around the world helps shape and mold our children's Jewish identity at home. During this session, children will explore rituals, sights, sounds, and tastes of Jewish cultures as close as New York City and as far away as aboriginal Australia and Ethiopia.

Session IV: July 16-27

 "Kibbutz Camp"
This camp is all about building community. Children will learn what it was like to live on a kibbutz in Israel and create their own version at Har Shalom. They'll work together to plan the layout of their town, decide on community rules, and plant food for the Har Shalom community to share.

Session V: July 30-August 10

Jr. Maccabiah Games
The Maccabiah games for international Jewish and Israeli athletes were first held in 1932. Last year, athletes competed on behalf of 85 countries in 45 sports, and they even include sports and games like chess and netball. In this session students will learn Israeli games and sports like Rummikub, Three Sticks, and Maktot (beach tennis). Fair play and friendly competition will be emphasized. 

Each 2-week sessions includes:

  • Developmentally appropriate classes for children entering preschool through children entering 3rd grade
  • Morning or full-day discovery & fun; Monday - Friday
  • Allergy-friendly snacks


3 Mornings ($210 per 2-week session)
4 mornings ($230 per 2-week session)
5 mornings ($250 per 2-week session)

3 Full Days ($360 per 2-week session)
4 Full Days ($380 per 2-week session)
5 Full Days ($400 per 2-week session)

Aftercare (2:30 - 5:00 pm): $5/hour, charged in 1/2 hour increments. Minimum of 3 children must attend. Billed at the end of each week and dur the next Monday.

Registration fee: $50 per session/student (applied to tuition, non-refundable)
