We are now in the month of Heshvan. The one and only month in the Jewish calendar that doesn’t have a holiday or big celebration. Somehow, even without a holiday to plan for, our November HSRS schedule is as busy as ever.
And the Winners Are….
October shekel winners! Enjoy a gift certificate, for a treat, found in your supply bag. Ben Shamis, Bryce Herman, Connor Vandenberg, Shoshana Goldstein, Alda Heuberger, Sylvia Shoshensky, Maddy Jacobson, Isaac Lessem,

In-Person Learning
Starting November 1, 2020, we will add the 1st/2nd graders to our in-person learning environment. At this point, kindergarten and 1st/2nd will be the only classes meeting in-person. We are hoping to give our younger learners a few weeks of in-person learning to get to know their teachers and create the community that our older students have so successfully done over the years. As I already mentioned, the decision to host classes in-person versus virtually will be a week-to-week decision based on Larimer County guidelines, current PSD phases, and COVID numbers at our secular school and within the community. The Board, Executive Director, Rabbi Finestone, COVID Task Force, and Youth Education Committee will continue to have these conversations.
Book Bingo
Book Bingo is back, with a virtual twist! Join Judy on November 1 for an exciting game of Book Bingo. Jewish Book Month is an annual event sponsored by the Jewish Book Council. It is held in the month before the Hanukkah gift-giving season (roughly during the month of November). Book Bingo winners will get a new book! A bingo card is included in your child’s November supply bag. Zoom codes included in the HSRS @ Home email. We really hope your child joins us.

7th Grade Shabbat Service
Each grade will have an opportunity to lead a Saturday morning Shabbat Service this schoolyear. First up, our 7th graders have been busy preparing to lead the November 7th Shabbat Service. Please consider Zooming in and supporting them and all of their hard work. Seventh grade families, please let Rabbi Finestone know if you are interested in participating in the service.
Diaper Drive
Speaking of our 7th graders….. They have partnered with the Nappie Project and are leading a diaper drive from November 29-December 13. When you pick up December supply bags, consider bringing diapers of any size as we try to fill Nicki’s van. Plan ahead and add a pack of diapers to your next grocery pick-up.
Mini Meschies
Mini Menschies will meet on November 15 This will take place from 9:30-9:50am in Rabbi Finestone’s Zoom Room. Codes will be included in HSRS at Home as we get closer to the date. Mini Menschies is designed for our littlest learners- birth to age 3 kiddos with their grown-up.

Hanukkah Holiday Programming
We are excited to bring you many ways to celebrate Hanukkah with the Har Shalom and HSRS community. HSRS plans on hosting a Hanukkah Sing-along and Menorah building contest and the congregation will be offering ways to light the candles together as well as fun and exciting programs. Be thinking about your Hanukkiah (Hanukkah menorah) design. More information coming in the December HSRS Newsletter
