The Month Ahead Virtual Learning Even though many of our school districts are meeting in-person, at this point, we are still hosting class in the remote learning setting. We hope to have an update soon with our plan moving forward. Within the next week, there will be a SHORT survey. Please complete it.
Shabbat Jr & Mini Menschies Our next Shabbat Jr is on October 9. This service is designed for ages 3-8 but all are invited. Take a look at the HSRS at Home and Happenings for Zoom codes.
Mini Menschies will start on October 18. This will take place from 9:30-10:00am in Rabbi Finestone’s Zoom Room. Codes will be included in HSRS at Home and Happenings as we get closer to the date. Mini Menschies is designed for our littlest learners- birth to age 3 kiddos with their grown-up.
Teen Programs Our Social Justice teen program officially starts this month with Erika and Justin Strote! WOO HOO! Mark your calendars for the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month (October 13 and October 27) from 7-8pm. Zoom codes will be included in the HSRS at Home email. If there are teens still interested in joining, we would love to have you- register here!
Holiday Programming Participate in our Virtual Sukkah Hop: We will be hosting a Virtual Sukkah Hop on Sunday, October 4. Please email Addie at hsrsasstdirector@congregationharshalom.org by Friday, October 2 at 5pm with your videos and pictures and we will compile to make our Sukkah Hop Slideshow! Get creative- We would love to see your edible sukkahs, lego sukkahs, cardboard box sukkahs, too! Shekels for participation.
While we aren’t going on a whole school field trip this year, we encourage you to safely check out some of the local harvest spots. There are apple orchards, pumpkin patches, farmer’s markets that are a great activity to celebrate the season and welcome the fall harvest. Send us your pictures through email or Facebook for additional shekels!
Sukkot & Simchat Torah at HSRS October 4 and October 11- Our school will be celebrating Sukkot and Simchat Torah during our regular school time. All grades will be participating in programming from 9am-10am! Materials will be included in October supply bags. There will be only one Zoom number and your child will remain in the same Zoom for the entire session.
***Kitah Gan (Kindergarten), Zoey, and Eliza’s parents- your child will have a mini torah as well as a certificate in their bag. PLEASE SAVE THESE FOR OCTOBER 11. I will instruct when it’s time to give these to your child during our celebration.

Story time with Judy starts Oct. 18th! Join us as we take a virtual trip around the world and visit other Jewish communities. Our first stop? Tunisia!!! Can you find it on a map? Hint--it's in Africa! Our story for K-4th grade features some new Shabbat customs. Try these at home!! Our story for 5th-7th grade is a folktale in which a piece of cake plays an important role.
