Jewish Play Reading Project

The new Jewish Play Reading Project is an opportunity to gather together to read and explore three plays of Jewish content. No acting experience or preparation is necessary. Just show up and prepare to have some fun!  Attend any - or all - of the readings.  Ages 15+ are welcome.

Theatre Director Rick Schiller will facilitate the reading. RSVP Rick so he can keep you up-to-date with further details.

The Jewish Play Reading Project kicks off its second season on Sunday, November 10 at 2:00pm with the reading of a dramatic legend, “A Dybbuk or Between Two Worlds” by S. Ansky, adapted by acclaimed playwright Tony Kushner from a new Yiddish translation.

On Sunday, December 15th, the classic Broadway musical, “Fiddler on the Roof” by Joseph Stein, Jerry Bock, and Sheldon Harnick will be read, featuring musical numbers from the new Yiddish production now running in New York.

Check back for plays to be read in 2020!

Here are just a few of the comments received from our first season:

“This was a first for me and I loved it." “Thank you for allowing me to escape into a different time and space”. “What a delightful experience on a Sunday afternoon.”

The Jewish Play Reading Project is supported by the Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund and is part of Har Shalom’s new Cultural Arts Committee.
